En zelfs George “New World Order (11/09/91)” Bush Sr. sprak, als het om de infiltratie van zijn Republikeinen door deze extremistische en Leo Strauss-aanhangers ging, over the “crazies in the basement, ” aldus ex-VN-wapeninspecteur Scott Ritter. Volgens hem zijn de neoconservatieven als parasieten waar de “gastheren” (gewone conservatieven) vanaf moeten. Leo Strauss was op zijn beurt weer sterk beïnvloed door de nazi-denker Carl Schmitt, uit het fascistische Hitler-tijdperk. Dezelfde neocons hebben tegenwoordig bovendien goede banden met de zionistische AIPAC-lobby, en worden door zeer veel mensen (waaronder een aantal beroemdheden, maar ook gewone mensen als ik zelf) als hoofdverdachte voor de aanslagen van 9/11, hun gedroomde “nieuwe Pearl Harbour,” gezien.

De oorlogen tegen Irak en Afghanistan werden gevoerd uit naam van hun leugens, gesteund door onze eigen regering Balkenende (broer van)…wiens huidige kabinet, gesteund door fanatieke Neder-neocons, zich daarom met hand en tand verzet tegen een parlementair onderzoek naar de aanleiding voor de Nederlandse steun aan de oorlog. Sterker nog, zelfs steun aan een preventieve oorlog tegen Iran wordt niet uitgesloten.

De “take-over” van de Amerikaanse politiek door figuren als Cheney, Wolfovitz en gastheren als George W. Bush en Karl Rove kan vérstrekkende gevolgen hebben voor de relaties tussen de VS en Europese landen. Zóver zelfs, dat sommigen zelfs speculeren over Europa als een toekomstig Irak:

The acquiescence of the American people to their government’s (Democrat and Republican parties) policies has led to a point in history that is very dangerous for the rest of the world. Eventually, that hazard will rebound in the U.S. I never thought I would be the citizen of a country, that, in its own words, tells its citizens not to visit more than 100 countries on the Earth because their lives may be in danger. The Department of State lists the countries which consist of democracies, dictatorships, kingdoms, leftist governments, rightist governments, authoritarian governments, etc. In other words, there is no common political persuasion to the opposition of U.S. policy worldwide. U.S. foreign policy has taken away the freedom to travel for many of its citizens and turned what was once an enjoyable vacation into a life-threatening experience.

A German journalist recently stated:

Every day conservative U.S. ideologues deepen the rift by accusing Europeans alternatively of being arrogant, incompetent or simply stupid. In this situation, there remains nothing for the Europeans to do than to free themselves once and for all from the U.S. Politically and morally, it will not be a problem — but militarily, things are much more difficult.

He hit the nail right on the head. U.S. military might is overwhelming. While the rest of the world was talking of the peace dividend following the Cold War, the U.S. just kept on increasing its war machine. But, there are occurrences that could alter the balance.

France, Belgium and Germany are behind an effort to create s strong European military, aloof of NATO. The U.S. has told them it is not necessary, but forward-thinking Europeans think otherwise. They can see their countries being future Iraqs within decades. Lees verder op Uruknet.

Halliburton CEO David Lesar made $26.6 million in 2005, and nearly $50 million since 9/11, an amount that even beats the $24 million that Dick Cheney received in exchange for the guarantee that Halliburton would be the number one military contractor during the Bush administration.

Cheney himself is also taking in war profits, contrary to what he told Tim Russert on “Meet the Press” in 2003, when he denied making any money off his former employer. “Since I left Halliburton to become George Bush’s vice president,” he said, “I’ve severed all my ties with the company, gotten rid of all my financial interest.” Lees verder op Counterpunch.
