Meer over de nasleep van de “zelfmoord” van Bruce Ivins. Terwijl openbaar aanklager Jeffrey Taylor over “miltvuur-verdachte” Bruce Ivins spreekt als zijnde de “sole culprit in 2001 anthrax attacks“, zegt Richard Spertzel, voormalig hoofd van de Sectie Biowapens van Unscom, precies het tegenovergestelde, in een column op Wall Street Journal:

The FBI spent between 12 and 18 months trying “to reverse engineer” (make a replica of) the anthrax in the letters sent to Messrs. Daschle and Leahy without success, according to FBI news releases. Een andere bizarre wending: de FBI zou Ivins’ familie gestalkt en onder druk gezet hebben, en zelfs geld hebben geboden om zich tegen Ivins te keren. Zo meldt tenminste MSNBC:
WASHINGTON – Before killing himself last week, Army scientist Bruce Ivins told friends that government agents had stalked him and his family for months, offered his son $2.5 million to rat him out and tried to turn his hospitalized daughter against him with photographs of dead anthrax victims.
Verderop in het artikel staat:
the smearing of an innocent man — Ivins’ colleague Steven Hatfill.
Smearing? Wellicht. Rot voor Hatfill. Maar een prangende vraag is en blijft: waarom blijft een ándere mogelijke verdachte, betrapt op video, buiten schot?

They had formed a clique that was accused of harassing the Egyptian-born Assaad, who later sued the Army, claiming discrimination.”
Zack had zelf kennelijk een nogal racistisch motief, en is dus in ieder geval een mogelijke “useful idiot.” Moesten Arabieren/moslims zwart gemaakt worden? En met welk motief? En waarom al die moeite om Ivins zwart te maken?
