Eerder bleek <a title=\"Amazon workers face 'increased risk of mental illness'\" href=\"http:\/\/www.bbc.co.uk\/news\/business-25034598\" target=\"_blank\">Amazon ook in Groot-Brittanni\u00eb<\/a> orderpickers als willoze robots te <a href=\"http:\/\/www.demorgen.be\/dm\/nl\/5403\/Internet\/article\/detail\/1746491\/2013\/11\/25\/Undercoverjournalist-is-na-een-nachtshift-bij-Amazon-volledig-gebroken.dhtml\" target=\"_blank\">behandelen<\/a>.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Als reactie heb ik eind vorige maand zelf al mijn <a title=\"No more CD\" href=\"http:\/\/johnito.nl\/blog\/shop\/\" target=\"_blank\">CD op Amazon&#8217;s Createspace offline gehaald<\/a>, en opdracht gegeven om hetzelfde te doen met mijn bestaande mp3&#8217;s in de Amazon store.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Verder heeft <a title=\"Music4Freedom\" href=\"http:\/\/music4freedom.squarespace.com\" target=\"_blank\">Music4Freedom,<\/a> de organisatie achter de &#8220;<a title=\"Be Free\" href=\"http:\/\/johnito.nl\/blog\/2013\/05\/11\/out-now-befree-by-artists4freedom\/\" target=\"_blank\">Be Free<\/a>&#8221; EP en waarmee ik ook samenwerk tijdens de huidige &#8220;<a title=\"4Snowden \" href=\"http:\/\/4snowden.org\" target=\"_blank\">4Snowden<\/a>&#8220;-campagne, besloten hetzelfde te doen.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Missy Chiprin legt op de M4F-site de drie niveau&#8217;s van Amazon&#8217;s &#8216;Stress Business Model&#8221; uit:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em><strong>Missy went on to discuss three types of stress, mapped out within <\/strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.motherjones.com\/politics\/2012\/02\/mac-mcclelland-free-online-shipping-warehouses-labor\"><strong>Amazon&#8217;s business model<\/strong><\/a> Raising critical questions which begged to be answered, including as we challenge such business practices, how are we empowering the employees. For we are bearing witness to and committing our support, embodied within an atmosphere which creates an unsafe environment, workers have the answers, and most certainly have a powerful voice<\/em><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Amazon\u2019s 3 levels of stress business model <\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p id=\"yui_3_10_1_1_1388924321244_456\"><em><strong id=\"yui_3_10_1_1_1388924321244_455\">1. Physical labor combined with unrealistic and unattainable goals <\/strong>dominate the work environment. Charting this is critical to identifying the dependence on one body\u2019s ability to work under oppressive conditions, placing often life time of stress on one&#8217;s physical being<\/em><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>2. Mental stress of Job insecurity<\/strong> becomes evident under the frame work of the cortex, the nexus of exploitive labor practices ensued. Equally threatening, Amazon employees are well aware of the countless temporary workers eagerly ready to replace them if they do not make their goals and\/or are fired<\/em><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>3. A disturbing practice of inducing emotional stress.<\/strong> Intentionally, workers are subjected to feeling they are not good enough, so as to cause them to work harder and worse challenging their belief of their own autonomy, by creating dependence out of the false belief, of their own lack. Within the contours of capitalism, historically enacting destructive methods lie such markers we ought to take heed<\/em><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><em>Missy Chiprin is Producer at The Scholar\u2019s Circle &amp; Music4Freedom Media Director<\/em><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><strong>We zijn uiteraard niet na\u00efef; Amazon is niet het enige bedrijf dat op deze manier haar werknemers behandelt, of via uitbesteding zelfs medeverantwoordelijk is voor <a title=\"Foxconn Workers Speak: We Are Treated Worse Than Machines\" href=\"http:\/\/www.amrc.org.hk\/node\/1186\" target=\"_blank\">nog veel verstrekkender uitbuiting<\/a>.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Een logisch en onvermijdelijk <a href=\"http:\/\/www.globalinfo.nl\/Achtergrond\/ttip-tafta-met-de-economische-navo-naar-de-mooie-nieuwe-investeerderswereld.html\" target=\"_blank\">gevolg <\/a>van de neoliberale <a href=\"http:\/\/www.scriptonitedaily.com\/2013\/12\/02\/the-secret-trade-agreement-about-to-complete-the-corporate-takeover-of-democracy\/\" target=\"_blank\">vrijhandelspolitiek<\/a> waar we internationaal <a title=\"PVV pro corporate takeover\" href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/JohnitoPage\/posts\/641977215858450\" target=\"_blank\">mee te maken hebben<\/a>, en waar, wat mij betreft, globaal <a href=\"http:\/\/www.truth-out.org\/news\/item\/20985-nafta-death-artists-mark-naftas-20th-anniversary-with-silent-border-protest\" target=\"_blank\">verzet<\/a> tegen <a href=\"http:\/\/www.dewereldmorgen.be\/artikels\/2014\/01\/05\/20-jaar-nafta-voorbode-ttip-vrijhandelsakkoord-tussen-vs-en-eu\" target=\"_blank\">noodzakelijk was, is en blijft.<\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Maar juist omdat we ons via Music4Freedom en <a href=\"http:\/\/music4freedom.squarespace.com\/artists4freedom\/\" target=\"_blank\">Artists4Freedom<\/a> inzetten tegen uitbuiting, hebben we gezamenlijk besloten om via een boycot van Amazon een voorbeeld te stellen aan andere bedrijven, uit solidariteit met de getroffen werknemers.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Dit betekent dus \u00f3\u00f3k dat mijn nummer &#8220;<a title=\"Resistance Is Vital #4Snowden\" href=\"http:\/\/johnito.nl\/blog\/2013\/12\/11\/single-release-resistance-is-vital-4snowden\/\" target=\"_blank\">Resistance Is Vital<\/a>&#8221; niet meer beschikbaar zal zijn via Amazon<\/strong>. <strong>We hopen dat meer artiesten ons voorbeeld zullen volgen.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a title=\" Music4Freedom's response to Amazon's holiday season abuse of temporary workers \" href=\"http:\/\/music4freedom.squarespace.com\/m4fblog\/2014\/1\/4\/music4freedoms-response-to-amazons-holiday-season-abuse-of-temporary-workers\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Lees de volledige verklaring namens Gia Ibarra, Missy Chiprin en mij op Music4Freedom. <\/strong><\/a><strong>En teken svp ook<\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.change.org\/de\/Petitionen\/amazon-deutschland-verbessern-sie-die-arbeitsbedingungen-ihrer-leiharbeiter\" target=\"_blank\"><strong> <\/strong><strong>deze petitie.<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Vlak voor kerst 2013 ontsloeg Amazon Duitsland ruim 600 mensen, nadat er al enkele maanden onrust op de werkvloer was, o.a. vanwege de slechte lonen en onmenselijke targets.
