Peoples united Against the Troika: International Protest on the 1st of June

Europe is under a violent attack by the financial capital, represented by the troika (IMF, ECB, EC) and by the successive governments that apply concerted policies with these entities, despising and destroying the people. We know that this offensive is set on breaking the peoples, rendering them slaves of debt and austerity. This offensive crosses Europe and it must be defeated by an international struggle.

Each one of us, in each country, in each city, in each house, with our own specificities, feels directly the measures that annihilate the rights conquered throughout the decades, measures which aggravate unemployment, privatize everything that can make a profit and repel the countries’ sovereignties under the propaganda of “external help”. It is urgent that we join forces to fight-off this attack.

The appeal we launched for a decentralized international protest has circulated through dozens of movements in Spain, France, Italy, Greece, Cyprus, Ireland, England, Scotland, Germany and Slovenia. Several international activists, from different European countries, were present In a meeting on the 26th of April, in Lisbon, where this international proposal was discussed.

In the end, we reached a consensus to launch an international protest for the next 1st of June, under the motto “Peoples United Against the Troika!”.

This is the beginning of a decentralized, inclusive and participatory process. We wish to build it collectively, joining all forces available. Henceforth, the date of the 1st of June will be spread on a European scale, and we urge everyone to join this international protest against the troika and against austerity… for the peoples to take control of their lives.

We urge all citizens, with or without party, with or without a job, with or without hope, to join us. We urge all political organizations, social movements, unions, parties, collectives, informal groups, to join us.

We wish to continue to broaden our contacts, both nationally and internationally, for we are aware that only the sum of our voices can stop the new waves of austerity that are being prepared. The peoples of Europe have demonstrated in several moments that they’re not available for more sacrifices, in the name of a future that will never come. The time has come for a massive demonstration of the capacity of these peoples to coordinate the struggle against these policies.

From the North to the South of Europe, let us take the streets against austerity! (source)

Ook in Nederland is er een demonstratie, en deze zal plaatsvinden op het Lange Voorhout in Den Haag.

Blokkeer de G8 in Londen!

Website: https://network23.org/stopg8/g8-201/

Verspreid de oproep:

“This June the leaders of the G8 (the world’s richest countries) are meeting in Northern Ireland. As economic crisis bites, and the planet burns, the bosses and their politicians are celebrating business as usual. Capitalism: a system that kills, exploits, and degrades the many for the profit of a few.

On June 10-14 we are organising a week of action and events in London. London is at the heart of global capitalism. The corporations, banks, hedge funds, and billionaires looting our world have names and addresses. They are in the glass towers of the City, and behind unmarked doors in Mayfair and Knightsbridge. London is the money-laundering den of dictators, the playground of the super-rich. But London is our city too. A city of hope, resistance, and struggle.

Capitalism is killing us. Unemployment, cuts, and the rise of fascism in the “West”. Poverty, colonialism, brutal exploitation in the “Third World”. War and famine for profit. Private prisons, police checks, CCTV to keep us scared and controlled. Life robbed of meaning and beauty, our dreams and our dignity for sale.

Don’t ignore. Don’t wait. For our friends and loved ones, for our communities, for our planet, for everything they’re trying to take from us. The time is now. Let’s come together, and fight. One common struggle.

Join us on the streets.

June 10-14: Week of actions, talks, meet-ups, films, games, concerts, and more, all over London and beyond.

June 11: Big day of action in Central London.

June 17-18: G8 Summit, Enniskillen, North of Ireland.

Featured artist: Iwanjka, born in Malawi is based in the Netherlands. He prefers to record his music mostly in the open air, surrounded by nature and the sea, which he refers as “pure recordings.” Most of his tracks are ‘first takes’ without editing or mastering. “Changers song” featured in “Be Free” EP is his very first mastered track. This year he hopes to record studio quality tracks in his self-owned Power-Flower Studio. He has authored two eBooks titled Novaglobe, Diagnosis Life jam and also holds a science master degree in Information Engineering. He previously worked in the banking and insurance industries, displeased he left to be free to focus on social change activities and global community projects.  http://www.iwanjka.novaglobe.org/

Featured artist: Harry Loco, creates a positive vibe where-ever he goes. His music features songs with heart, soul and great lyrics that remind you of the better days in the sixties. Harry’s music is described as a great voice in combination with the brilliant sound of his Landola guitars (Finland) and screaming harmonica’s sounds like Dylan in his best days. He performs regular shows in Europe and the United States. He started playing in the streets of London in 2001, and often performs for Amnesty International, War-child and other organizations against war, racism and injustice. Harry was invited and has played with many famous artists such as Peter Green
(Fleetwood Mac) Sheena Spirit (Santana, Bob Marley, Bob Dylan) and many more. March 2003, Harry performed Love to all the People during a protest against the attack of Iraq in front of more than 80,000 people on the Dam Square in Amsterdam (NL) www.harryloco.com

Featured artist: Johnito, was the singer of The Hague based rock band called Propeller, playing an unforgettable opening set to a protest rally in front of up to 25,000 people in Amsterdam in 2003. Johnito’s sound is mostly influenced by the 80s and 90s electro pop and alternative crossovers, and can be described as electronic protest songs. Johnito has recorded one album so far, named Earth 1.9, released early 2011. Two of its tracks reached the best 100 songs ever recorded in The Hague. He is a solo recording artist since 2007, and had a short appearance in the Dutch movie “Bellicher: Cel” in 2012. http://johnito.nl
